I have also been going through a transition professionally. After nearly 20 years of engineering, I am saying goodbye to a profession that has been very good to me. Many of you know that my firm, Maple Engineering, was acquired last year by a larger regional competitor (Barton Associates). After working with Barton for the past year it is now time for me to exit and for my former staff to lead the Raleigh office.

So, what's next for me?

The most rewarding part of running Maple Engineering was creating a business environment that allowed our staff to grow & prosper. Our success was always due to our people. The more satisfied & engaged they were with their work, the more we succeeded as a business. This was also the most challenging part of my job, as is true for most business leaders.

Now, after 12+ years of reading, listening & thinking; And thousands of days of "hands on" tinkering with how to make a business flourish, I hope other business leaders and their staff can benefit from what I've learned and the questions I am still wrestling with. This was the inspiration behind starting my new venture...
